Classically elegant, intimate dining
I’ve been visiting Isabel’s for many, many years but hadn’t been there for a while and with the relatively recent change in ownership, I was keen to see if it had lost any of its original charm. Arriving, you are confirmed of your booking then led to the reception room, offered drinks and given canapés (always a good touch at this restaurant).
Very shortly our table was ready and we sat in a booth at the front of the restaurant. These booths always offer the best experience but are only for 2-4 people so bigger groups would have a different experience. Service was quick and courteous, and the food we ordered (starters, mains and desserts, varying from vegetarian to fish to steaks) was delicious. Appearance was superb, cooked expertly and with love, with a good selection of side dishes to compliment it. We finished off with coffees and never felt any pressure for us to move on, despite us being one of the last customers in there.
Overall, reassuringly the same quality but with a few extras to tempt you (eg a bar, garden access and an exclusive dining club). Finally, whilst the price felt pretty high about 20 years ago, it now really seems reasonable and I swear hasn’t changed much in that time. Highly recommended !
